This certified 5K run and walk will be along the beautiful Evanston lakefront newly paved path beginning at Sheridan Road and Church Street.

Canned goods will be collected before the race to benefit the Evanston Harvest Food Pantry. Please bring non-perishable food items to donate to this worthy cause.

Every registered participant will receive a Goodie Bag for the event. The first 2000 participants will get a sweatshirt.

Evanston Welcomes 2012!

In Evanston and the Chicago North Shore area, there are plenty of ways to welcome in the New Year! So before you worry about making resolutions, take the opportunity to enjoy these special events!
Friday Dec 30, learn some new moves at the Boocoo Cultural Center! Bachata dance classes are only $8. From traditional, to tango or ballroom, this energetic dance style can be as flexible as you are.
Saturday, Dec 31, include the kids in cultural experiences with a trip to the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian. There is a special craft hour for kids at 11:00 a.m, ages 4 and up. Saturday hours at the museum are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adult admission is $5, and only $2.50 for kids, students and seniors.
Saturday, Dec 31, the whole family can enjoy a kid-friendly party in nearby Wilmette. For $30, a family of four gets dinner, art activities, sparkling beverages, noisemakers (you wanted those, didn’t you?) and a countdown with balloon drop. The party goes from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is hosted by Growth Spurts.
Looking for live music, dancing, and cocktails on New Year’s Eve? The Firehouse Grill has an all-night appetizer buffet, live entertainment, and a champagne toast at midnight. Advance tickets online are $45, otherwise it's $55 at the door.
If you want to go formal, Pensiero Ristorante has two options. Early dining begins at 6:30 p.m. at $65 per person, which includes a four-course menu. If you are looking for a complete New Year’s Eve experience, the 9:00 p.m. seating includes a five-course menu, live music and dancing, midnight toast and party favors, for $95 per person. Beverages, sales tax and gratuity are not included in these prices. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Summer in Chicago’s North Shore is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the sights, sounds and even tastes of the season.  As Chicago North Shore Real Estate agents, we enjoy bringing you a wide variety of information about the North Shore lifestyle and feel that this well-rounded approach provides you with the information you want!

- Now in its 36th year, the Evanston Farmers' Market has a festive atmosphere and is a real crowd-pleaser! Thirty-seven vendors sell a wide variety of goods, including fruits, vegetables, meat, flowers, cheese, milk, eggs and bakery items. Reusable and biodegradable bags are sold on site.

Celebrate Art This Weekend in Chicago's North Shore!

An example of life in the North Shore is taking place this weekend with the 14th Annual Highland Park Festival of Fine Craft.  This free, two-day outdoor event runs Friday, June 25 through Saturday, June 26 and is open to everyone!  Come experience the craftsmanship and creativity of over 100 local artisans.  You’ll enjoy live entertainment, activities for children, high quality foods from local restaurants and a silent auction.  This anticipated event gives Highland Park residents the opportunity to meet local artists and buy directly from them, which is a great way to interact with the Highland Park community and give back to its committment to art.

- Noon - 5pm. Since its inception, Evanston History Center’s house walk has embodied the best of history and architecture. This year we bring you several private homes, including a stunning 1899 Myron Hunt home. This magnificent home was originally built as a coach house in 1892 and converted into a single-family home is 1962. Also on the walk is a fabulous 25-room house, modeled on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's home in Cambridge, MA built in 1894. The house walk includes interior viewing of all the houses on the walk. $35 in advance; $40 at the door.
